Variety is Spice of Life for Business Improvement Program Manager Anouck Scamaroni Jung

Anouck Scamaroni Jung

Introducing Anouck Scamaroni Jung, the Chemical Engineer turned Business Improvement Program Manager with a passion for learning from others, thinking outside the box, and driving our business forward.

Before finding herself completely immersed in all things herbs, spices, and seasonings, Anouck began her career as a Chemical Engineer specializing in renewable energy. From there she soon realized that the work she found most fulfilling involved project management – regardless of whether the programs involved wind farms or helicopters. Her work incorporated everything from supporting product testing to finding synergies across teams, and creatively devising the most efficient solutions to a variety of problems. Anouck loved the creative and often very challenging opportunities this kind of work provided.

Eager to travel, expand her knowledge base, and meet new people, Anouck joined McCormick France in 2017, where she initially focused largely on our Italian brands, helping to identify and action process efficiencies with the end goal always being to strengthen our consumer offering.

Anouck’s commitment and passion for her work shone through immediately with her even learning Italian whilst on the job to better support communication with her Italian counterparts, local suppliers and potential customers. Over the last six years, Anouck’s remit has also evolved and expanded, so she now focuses on the EMEA region more broadly, working as part of a team of six and driving McCormick’s Comprehensive Continuous Improvement program. Relying on her tenacity, ability to creatively problem solve, and, of course, her love for collaboration, today Anouck successfully manages multiple ongoing projects at once, sometimes working on between seven and ten separate projects all in the same day. These highly varied workstreams might involve developing an entirely new process line, liaising with suppliers or supporting with the development of a new spice blend, and as such, no two days, or even two hours, look the same for Anouck – which is incidentally one of the things she loves most about her role!

It is no accident that Anouck has got to where she has today. Her dedicated involvement in business-wide initiatives that fall outside of her day-to-day role has allowed her to develop the interpersonal and leadership skills often required to succeed in a business as dynamic and forward-thinking as McCormick. Alongside the day job, Anouck spent two years hard at work supporting the French Passion for Flavor (PFF) employee interest group. This team is tasked with helping French colleagues become even more familiar with our portfolio – making it easier for everyone to be brand ambassadors and to share our delicious flavors with family and friends. Anouck is also currently heavily involved in McCormick’s Multiple Management Board (MMB), a signature internal leadership program that encourages professional growth, while delivering strategic value for the company. She was the chairperson of the France MMB team for the first half of 2023.

Being a part of these initiatives has given Anouck valuable insight into the varied ways in which others think, work and operate, often encouraging her to approach her own work from a different angle. Anouck also recalls how she particularly enjoys the supportive, diverse and collaborative nature of these internal employee-led groups, as she has now been involved in delivering an impressive range of PFF and MMB projects, all of which are designed to support the business in a wide variety of ways, including a recent event hosted by the MMB group that was attended by more than 600 colleagues to mark the 60th anniversary of the Ducros brand. It is the powerful experiences gained from groups like these that make being a part of the McCormick family unique. They set us apart and mean we are constantly challenging ourselves to recognize how we as a business can be better.
