Journey to Net Zero
McCormick has committed to using science-based targets to achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions in line with limiting climate warming to 1.5°C by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2050.
From our supply chain to our operations and beyond our organization, we’re taking steps to reduce the environmental impact of our collective operations. Our 2030 targets are aligned with the global UN Sustainable Development Goals, and we’re doubling down on our commitments to climate change solutions, environmental compliance, and sustainable sourcing. By 2050, our goal is to achieve Net Zero.
McCormick has committed to using science-based targets to achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions in line with limiting climate warming to 1.5°C by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2050.
Our strategy to decarbonize our operations includes driving energy efficiencies, transitioning to renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from waste.
Over 95% of McCormick’s carbon footprint is from Scope 3 emissions, meaning those that are outside of the Company’s direct control. Collaborating across the industry to share best practices and inviting other partners to join our journey is essential to achieving net-zero.
We partnered with S&P Global to conduct Climate Scenario Analysis (CSA) and assess potential risks and opportunities, and financial impact from different climate scenarios. These included physical risks such as those due to major weather events, and transition risks such as carbon pricing, evolving investor and consumer expectations, emerging regulations and changes in technology. Full details of the results of the CSA can be found in our Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures table.
